Prior to being introduced to percussion ( Drums ) at the early age of 8 D.C.G. was into music due to his mothers love for music, that was passed down from her parents. Heavily influenced by the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Roy Ayers, Marvin Gaye and Phil Collins the list can go on and on. Groups like Wu-Tang , Tribe, Blackmoon, Pete Rock & C.L Smooth, Gangstarr and Big Daddy Kane are the ones that had a huge impact on his lyrics, because they seemed to address some of his issues.

As years would pass with D.C.G writing and expressing himself over instrumentals that he would buy from other artist single cassette/cds, he started to inquire about producing. Walking into a music store for the first time and seeing how much equipment cost he became discouraged a bit but was determined to do what he had to purchase his first two pieces of equipment years later, which consisted of a inexpensive mic and a mixer. From there he would expand and learn that with music you never stop learning and there is always room for growth.
